The Last Viking

Norman Jorgensen speaking at the Fremantle Children's Literature Centre

The Nors Gods were definitely in attendance last night at the launch of the picture book, The Last Viking, by Norman Jorgensen and James Foley, published by Fremantle Press.

Thunder crashed, lightning lit up the sky and the heavens opened above the Fremantle Children’s Literature Centre, which was filled to bursting point and bristled with horned helmets and Viking battle axes. After the formalities ( and the downpour) were over, a display of hand-to-hand combat was performed by some very large and authentic looking Vikings. It was not difficult to imagine these fierce warriors coming ashore from ships in the nearby harbour where so many wireless aerials clustered like masts and silver satellite dishes could easily have been Viking shields.

It all turned out well, though. The Vikings were fed and given wine to drink and we were all allowed to return to our homes.

Congratulations Norm and James!
