Most of the time, as authors and illustrators, we work away at our professions without really knowing when our current project will be finished and therefore when, or how much, we will be paid. So we tend to celebrate any good news that comes our way. To have so much good news in one week is very rare.
This week Moira Court heard, on the same day, that the artwork for her new picture book My Superhero will join the permanent collection at the State Library of WA and that she has been shortlisted for the Black Swan prize for Heritage! Go Moira!
And a couple of days later I was thrilled to receive the Muriel Barwell Award for distinguished services to children’s literature in Western Australia. The Muriel Barwell Award is presented every second year by the Children’s Book Council of Australia, WA Branch and I feel very honoured to have now joined their list of winners. Thank you CBCA (WA)!
